Happy Four Months Gus!!

June 28th has come and gone, and I have no clue where it went!! My
littlest baby is four months old now, my big baby (who really is no
baby at all) is nearly 21 months, meaning I'll soon stop counting his
months at all! And not to mention, June is practically over! Whew.

A little update on the Gus:
- the happiest, smiley-est, baby on the block!
- making mama proud (and more rested!) by sleeping thru the night
- likes to chew on his fingers or any cloth he can grab hold of
- especially likes eating his toes
- can do a 360 on his back
- sits propped up
- is nearly rolling back to front!
- and still continues to watch Arjen's EVERY move

I forgot to update his weigh after his 3 month check up, so here's the
jump from 3 to 4:
3 months - 15 lbs, 25 1/4"
4 months - 16 lbs 6 oz, 26"

We love how you make us smile Gus Gus!!

Arjen's first windsurfing lesson

With the beginning of summer, comes weekend day trips to Sherman Island (Rio Vista) for windsurfing.  So far this year, aside from the Gus, who is just too little, the whole fam-damily has been out on the water!  Woo-hoo!

Me, suited up and hanging on for dear life

Arjen really liking it

"More please!"
(it was windy there, so you may want to turn down the volume before watching this video)

Of course, as soon as I set the camera down and turned away, then he fell in.  It's probably a good thing I wasn't watching, as I was using a decent amount of telephoto lens for these pics, standing across the road by the truck where Gus was sleeping, and was too far away to have been able to do anything. I'm told he didn't freak out, and when I did turn around, the only apparent difference was just a wet water baby who still wanted more!  He wouldn't get out of the water, despite shivering and blue lips.  I think we have a little fish on our hands!

One kid is great, but two are better!

Today, I witnessed my boys playing together for the first time.  Arjen has tried playing with Gus, but this was really the first time I saw them really playing TOGETHER.  Melted my heart.  So, in my proud mom moment, there was just no way I could trim down this 3 minute long video.  So if you want to see the together-ness, skip forward to around half way thru.  But if you want to see new uses for stacking cups and why I'm so proud of, and entertained, by my kids, feel free to watch the whole thing.  I just couldn't leave any of it out.  :)

Dirty Dirty!

This morning, I finally managed to get 2 baskets of laundry folded, and put away.  Before kids, that would never have sounded like a challenging task!  Arjen, being the helpful boy that he is, thought he should help of course.  So he proceeded to take all of the clothes out and put the "dirty" clothes into the laundry basket.  Aside from my entertainment in watching this all go down, I was finally able to also get a video record of one of our favorite current phrases of his..."dirty, dirty!"  Here's just a snippet of the 3+ minutes that he spent "helping" me with the laundry...

An afternoon with GG and GAP

The other day, we went for a little excursion to visit GGma.  The whole ride there, Arjen was chirping "GG! GG!"  He was very excited.  Once there, GG had a special treat for him: Animal Crackers!  At first, I think the little animals threw him, as we had to convince him to eat them, but once he got a taste of one, oh boy!  He liked them so much, he thought everyone should share in the yummy-ness and went around hand feeding the rest of us.  :)

Arjen offering to share his cracker with GG

Of course, with this kid's love of music, it didn't take long before he asked to have the organ turned on.  At first, he patted the bench as he said "mama."  After a few minutes, I felt a little shove at my side, and realized I was getting kicked off.  No sooner had I stood up, was he patting the bench again, but this time saying "GG!" The little turkey.  I don't know that I've ever seen GG look so happy.  :)

Mom got kicked off the bench so he could make room for GG...not kidding!

Gus of course enjoyed his time cooing and making cute faces for everyone too...
