Welcome Home!!!

Home is good.
Welcome Home Arjen. You must be a stubborn kid just like your mom and dad!  You sure showed those doctors and nurses...they said you wouldn't go home before you were 35 weeks, and here you came home 1 day before your 1 week birthday, and 4 days before hitting the 35 week mark!  We are so proud of you for being so strong and determined to be a happy, healthy little boy.  Thank you for wanting to come home as much as we wanted you to!

Car seat test - gotta pass it to go home!

Test run with an empty stroller

NO MORE WIRES!!!

Stroller looks much better with you in it Arjen!

First breaths of fresh air!

We're home!

Do I smell a baby?

Will it play with me?

First real introduction of dogs and baby

We found out the Pole-dog has a motherly instinct - she wouldn't let Bandito get near the baby

Happy 1 week birthday Arjen!  Let's celebrate by going for a walk!

Here's a video of your homecoming.  That's all from Tech & Talk!

What's a pirate's favorite type of sock to wear?

In the hallway outside the NICU, there are a number of onesies, designed as halloween costumes for a contest.  A crowd pleaser is this little pirate outfit, which reads "Arrgh! Wipe me booty!"  Might be a fitting costume for Arjen, hearing all the different ways everyone does their best to pronounce his name.  But no, we did not name him from an old favorite pirate joke!

So here is your phonetics lesson for the day, courtesy of some random Dutch guy I found thru google:

Dutch J is like English 'consonant Y' (like in YES) .

So when practicing how to say Arjen's name, pretend the J is a Y.  Ar-yen.

Oh, and the answer is "Arrr-gyle"
