With starting school comes starting all the extra-curriculars I guess! Elkhart Lake has an instructional soccer program for 3-4 year olds, and the boys were more than eager for us to sign them up! Their first "practice" was this past Thursday, and they impressively listened to the coaches and had fun for a solid 45 minutes.
I didn't get many great action shots, but here are a few okay ones…including this one with Arjen's "ghost" in the way of his face…
Gus managed to be the one kid often off by himself...

If you can't join 'em, might as well sleep!

Arjen might just take after mom…he seemed to have a natural instinct for playing defense and guarding the goal!

As close as Gus got to picking daisies in the back field

Or maybe this was it…he was showing off some dance moves in center field while the other kids were busy trying to get the ball in the goal.

The first 30 or so minutes of practice, each kid had their own ball, and practiced dribbling, kicking, etc. The last 15 min was more of a game type scenario, with the kids split into two teams trying to work on moving one ball down field "together" (aka bunch ball). What I thought was great though, was that the coaches made sure to teach good sportsmanship at the end of it all. While the result was almost as much of a cluster as the team play, the kids seemed to get the right idea. :)

Considering the boys have been asking every day since last Thursday if they have soccer again today, I'd say it was a success!
